About a year and a half ago, I discovered the benefits of the tiny chia seed. I read the book,
Born to Run, by Christopher McDougall, and I was intrigued by the stories of the Tarahumara people of Copper Canyon and their use of chia as an energy source The Tarahumara are ultra-marathon distance runners (100+ miles at a time!), something I am not. I am an avid cyclist and for the last 20 years I have logged around 5000 miles per year. I am always on the look out for foods that fuel my activities and fit into everyday life. Chia does this.
I consume 2 tablespoons daily, and these are the differences I have experienced:
- More energy.
- Faster hair and nail growth, along with both being stronger.
- A terrific feeling of well-being.
- Faster healing time.
- Regularity! or fiber fun, if you prefer!
I know that some of these qualities are subjective, but it has made a difference! Chia is high in omega-3, fiber, protein and antioxidants. Since including the chia seed in my diet, I have eliminated the need for supplements such as fish oil and flax. The chia replaces them and provides a better boost.
If you want to experience these benefits, I highly recommend chia. I buy mine through AZChia.
They sell a high quality product at a very fair price. If you click through to them from my blog, they will set you up!
Here's some recommended reading on the subject:

That's all I have to say! Try it, and experience the benefits yourself!
